Long Overdue

This blog post, not our newest addition. She decided to come into this world a lot sooner than expected. Actually about 2 1/2 weeks early. Her sister was induced at 41 weeks, which I was thinking was going to be the same story for Eden. We had our 37 week appointment the day before she was born. I had the doc check me and I was only 1 cm dilated. So, I was fully planning on waiting another 3 1/2 weeks to be induced. She had other plans though. :)
I woke up Wednesday morning and did my usual morning "routine". Got dressed into my workout gear to head to the gym later, made coffee, checked email. When I went to the bathroom I noticed a teeny bit of blood when I wiped and felt like I was "leaking" quite a bit. However, I was in denial thinking that I was just having some wishful thinking.
After I changed my underwear 3 times I emailed Jackie and told her I was pretty sure my water had broken. I think she thought I was crazy that I had not called the doctor yet and was telling her this over email. After a few hours of this I called the doctor, left a message, and called Lance to tell him that I was pretty sure my water broke. I told him not to head home yet since I wasn't having any contractions and although I knew we'd be heading to the hospital, I didn't know how soon.
When I finally talked to my doctor's nurse, she told me to go ahead and pack the bags, get my mom over to get Lilah and head to the hospital with the hubby.
I frantically tried to pack us up, get some laundry done, get stuff organized around the house.
We headed to the hospital around 11ish, still no contractions and about 4 1/2 hours after I felt like my water had officially broke.
To spare you of all the boring details, and also so that my dear cousin Brooke doesn't do some "vom" while she's reading this, I'll give you the bare bones of my birth story. :) Once I got to the hospital they started the pitocin to get my contractions started and then my doctor decided to again do the foley balloon. Brooke - again, I'll spare you the details....but just know it doesn't feel good and the balloon is supposed to help you dilate. It's lovely. That seemed to take awhile to get me to get to 4 cm, and my contractions were much stronger this time around. Once I got the balloon out and I was around 4 cm, I got the epidural. And I was very happy to have it. After that though, everything went by really fast. I went from about 4 cm to 10 cm in just a few hours. In less than 10 minutes of pushing, little baby Eden was born. 20 inches long, 6 lbs 9 oz, and tons of beautiful blonde hair like her sister.
Here are some pictures from our first few days with sweet Eden.
