First Two Days of Preschool
I cannot even come close to believing that our daughter is going to school. Preschool, mind you, but school! She is going Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11:30. So far, she seems to really like it. Not surprising. She didn't even say goodbye to me as she walked in the classroom on the first day. Lilah is not at all sad to leave me, and is super excited to be there. And I have an obnoxious amount of pictures from the first day, and a few from the 2nd. I know, they are basically all the same, but so cute I had to post all of them.
Ballerina Cutie Pie
She was so excited...and so far she loves ballet. I will take a picture of all the girls when they have their "recital" because all these little 3-4 year olds in pink tutus is the cutest!
Girls Weekend
The long awaited girls weekend - no kids, no hubbys - was...short. And I think we were all reminded that we are getting older, we are much more responsible, and a girls weekend is just not what it used to be.
I'm not saying it wasn't wonderful. It was so great to be with a lot of my best girlfriends and to not have kids distracting us, or working around naps, tantrums, and their feeding schedules.
We had lunch in Roslyn at this great little place that we sat out in what seemed like someone's back yard. We had an unexpected visitor (see all the pictures) that was very smelly and clearly had much too much to drink. Then we went to the place we were staying for some magazine reading and sitting in the sun.
We went back to our room to snack and have some wine. I took a picture of our refrigerator because we had enough food and drinks for an army. I think a lot of the food was eaten, and most of the wine went back home with us. We were ready to go to bed at 9:30. Yes, 9:30. The sun and snacking got to us. I think we were all fast asleep by 11.
Short but sweet. :)
Family Ferry Ride
Lilah gets to see the ferry from afar all the time when she is with granny. Finally we made time on a Saturday this summer to go on a ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston. It was a beautiful summer day in Seattle. Perfect. We stopped over there for a yummy lunch sitting outside and then had some ice cream before heading back. It was a really nice few hours. Eden did well and was mostly happy. Lilah loved riding on the ferry, eating at a restaurant, and having ice cream. All some of her favorite things. :)
2nd Annual Friends Camping Trip
Better late than never, huh!? Back in August, over a month ago (whoops) we went on our 2nd annual friends camping trip. We are lucky it even happened - working around 5 family's schedules, lots of babies, and summer is hard. Kjell's family didn't come this year because it was just too crazy, but we will hopefully have everyone back next summer. With some tenting and with babies and toddlers, I would say we did remarkably well. The kids slept as good as possible, the adults got a decent amount of sleep, and I think most had a great time. :)
The kids all loved swimming - Lilah would stay in the pool all day if she could. And it was nice for all the little girls to get together. They all play nicely and really enjoy each other. Eden took decent naps and even slept pretty good at night. We got to stay up for awhile and play games too.
I told the girls that give us 5 years (or a little more) and this will be much easier and probably way less stressful for the parents. But, the great thing is we are making memories and traditions for the kids, which is worth the craziness that camping is with children from 6 months to 6 years old.
