Beauty Salon

Well, this was even better than a beauty salon. Lilah got to get her hair cut from Jonny (my friend and who cuts my hair from Gene Juarez). She was so excited. She stared at herself the entire time, and flipped her hair this way and that way. She is the girliest girl there is. And her hair is so cute. This could be dangerous...already going to Gene Juarez? She might be more girly than even her mama. She gets her hair cut, we paint nails, she loves shoes, she talks about what "matches" and doesn't. Yikes.

Tiny Treks

Last Friday we had our first Tiny Treks. It was very fun, despite the chilly, cloudy day. The kids started out making their own little bird's nest with stuff from the ground (grass, twigs, pinecones) and got to make their own little "eggs" (aka: playdough). We sang some songs and then got to see all the animals at the park. Lilah absolutely LOVES animals, so she could have been there for hours. We took a little hike in the park and saw a crow's nest, different trees, some streams, and even pet a banana slug (not this lady, but Lilah was totally down). I'm hoping for at least dry conditions for the next 4 classes, but you never know here. I think Lilah will love it no matter what.

3rd Birthday Extravaganza

My little peanut turned 3. I can't believe it. How does that happen so fast? The first few months we were hoping for time to go faster so that things would get easier (which they really don't get "easier", they just get harder in different ways). We had a fun and super busy birthday weekend. Her birthday fell on a beautiful day and she chose to go to the Kirkland waterfront and throw rocks in the water and feed the ducks. And get a little chocolate donut and hot chocolate. In Lilah's book this is just about as near to heaven as you can get. Emily was in town so she hung with us and we just enjoyed the sunny Seattle day. We went to dinner at Cactus (not really Lilah's choice, but for her, she just likes the whole going out to eat thing). Of course we all benefited by eating at Cactus, one of our favorites. On Saturday we celebrated Lance's great grandma's 89th birthday with the whole Wiley clan. Very fun to all be together, and it means the world to her. She is such a sweet, lovely lady. One can truly only wish and hope and pray to be half the woman that she is. Sunday was the birthday extravaganza. I planned it on Mother's day (I know, so dumb) so the turnout wasn't as great as I would have liked. However, Lilah was in heaven with a princess castle cake (courtesy once again from our friend Christina, who makes the most amazing cakes that also taste wonderful!) and a bouncy house. Needless to say she looked like a zombie last night before bed. I thought she could pass out right there in the living room, which if you know Lilah, would never ever happen on a normal day, no matter the situation. All in all, a fun, super busy, and family and friends filled weekend. Our hearts are for sure filled to the brim.

Dora with the Best Daddy

Seriously....the best daddy. I cleaned up after dinner and daddy watched Dora with the girls, trying to comfort a cranky Eden.

Little Sisters are the Best

These girls are the cutest...and Eden still has the craziest, best hair.

Aunt "Lewis" and Julie

My Aunt "Lewis" (aka: Lois) and cousin Julie came here all the way from Indiana for a visit. Unfortunately it was rainy most of the time they were here, but we made the best of it. We went to Pike Place on a wet, dreary day. But still had a good time walking through the market and having lunch at Pike Brewery. Lilah really liked Julie and Aunt Lois. She held Julie's hand and talked her ear off. Julie has always been a good buddy to little kids. We loved her when we were little and visited Indiana. She has always been so good with kids (which makes sense that she has three of her own). My Aunt Lois is hilarious, and the sweetest lady. We had a really nice visit with them and it was great that they got to meet Lance and the girls.
I just had to post this with the random stranger in the background
Buddies
We joked around about this guy being my mom's boyfriend...he didn't have many teeth
Lilah LOVED all the fish....that's really what she was most interested in

New Dress?

Lilah has got quite a bit of dollar bills and change in her piggy bank from grama and poppy. What will she buy? She says a new dress. And has even said a new dress for granny or grama. ;)

Big and Little Love

Lilah really loves Eden. And Eden smiles at her all the time (no proof however in these shots). I just can't believe how big Eden is getting. I remember her being such a peanut on this little pillow when Lilah held her. Now she's filling all out, getting long, growing. She is such a little rolly polly. Love these two girls!

Someone is Ready for Summer

Raining, about 50 degrees outside, cloudy, dreary. We get an Old Navy package in the mail, with some summer clothes including a new swimsuit and sandals. And, this is what Lilah chose to wear for the afternoon. I don't blame her. I'd probably wear my bathing suit around too if I thought I could get away with it.

"Do you want to snuggle?"

Lilah to her best buddy Samson. He was not too into it, hence the pictures. So funny. And actually he is usually Lilah's biggest fan. He sees me or Eden, and he asks for Lilah. His mama even told me he wakes up sometimes asking for Lilah. But, he did not take her up on the snuggling action.

Naked Part 2

Even Eden likes to play with naked barbies. Great. Give us a few years and our house will be filled to the brim with naked babies, barbies and dolls.

Glamorous Motherhood

This is my second attempt at this post. The last I accidentally deleted. And I had some good things on there. Darn. I would like to begin by saying I do think that motherhood is an absolute blessing, a special privilege, a true gift from God, and the best job in the world. That we have all heard. These are the things that no one tells you before you enter into being a mom. You can stop reading now if I have scared you about being much too honest. I was thinking these things are too funny not to share. 1. Boob leakage. The other day at a crossfit class I had just put my sweatshirt over my top when I felt the milk letdown. I looked in the car and sure enough there were two round milk spots. I worry about leakage all the time. I have extra pads wherever I go and constantly am looking down to check out the situation. 2. Spit up. We were at Target a few days ago and I kept smelling spit up. I would smell Eden, her blanket, then her again. But she was in the cart and I was still smelling a strong whiff of it. Finally I realized it was actually coming from my hair. Nice. And I had just washed my hair that day. I would just have to lice with that smell for a few more days before it was time to ash my hair again. 3. Pee. After two kids, it's sometimes hard to keep all your pee contained, even when using your special muscles. I have to laugh in classes when we have to do a ton of jumping jacks or jump rope, because I know for a fact a little will escape. So if you see me in a class smiling during these horrific intervals, now you know why. 4. Dirty. Sometimes I don't brush my teeth until noon. And I have a three month old. That's just how it is. 5. Cold coffee. I heat up my coffee at least 4 times every morning, some days more. If I could get through one cup and it be hit the entire time, that would be a miracle (or would be called a vacation from children). 6. Sweats. Sadly, I don't wear cute jammies anymore. Or at least not for the time being. Not when I have to get out of bed in the cold to change a diaper and feed a baby. Those cute little shorts and tank that match and are supe cute are shoved way in the back of the dresser. Do you know what is up front? Sweats and my sorority t-shirts. Sorry honey some day I'll be back to wearing real pajamas instead of "What Not To Wear" attire. Ps: p,ease don't sign me up to be on that show. I will return with more examples if I think of any. These are just a few, and I am thinking that I should consider using my time wisely to clean instead of sharing myself in all my glory and glamour. ;)
