Handsome Husky

:)
My husband. He looks pretty great in purple.

Chillaxin

Ahhh...a hard day of playing, a long day at work=Lilah and daddy hangin' on the floor. What a sweet thing to see when I walk into the living room.

Winter Sunshine With Our Girlfriends

We have enjoyed our time with the King girls. While Emily finishes up school for the next 6 months, her and her girls are here in Kirkland. We've gotten to go running and have plenty of playdates. Last week on a sunny afternoon we met the girls to hang out. Right next to their condo is this little beachy area and it is perfect. The girls fed bread to the ducks, threw rocks in the water, did bubbles and ate snacks. It was great and just a hop, skip and a jump from their condo. Lilah continues to ask for Emily, Belle, and Luci all the time (when she wakes up in the morning, up from naps, when we head to the gym).

Countdown...

Less than 2 WEEKS until we leave for Hawaii...I can't decide at this point whether to cry or get crazy excited. I think Lance is choosing to get crazy excited. I will probably do all of the crying. Then, when we get on the plane and I sit down to read my first book or gossip mag, I can get crazy excited. Hopefully.

Jackie's 28th Birthday

Jackie just turned...um....28. Only two more years until the big 3-0!!!! ;)
Us girls decided last year that we would do small gifts (books) for the kids (who already get SO MUCH for their birthdays) and still do gifts and a fun outing together to celebrate. Once you have kids it's all about them, and you don't get many chances to celebrate you and have good food, drinks and relaxing time with friends. Jackie decided that she wanted to do happy hour for her birthday (even being 7 months pregnant). Sarah picked a cool little place in Belltown (List) and we had so much delicious food (I'm still dreaming of the creamy gnocchi) and nice wine. Most importantly, like always, we pick up like it has just been yesterday and enjoy each other's company. It was perfect! For dessert we decided to venture down to El Gaucho and shared bananas foster (made tableside..mmmm).
Happy 28th my dear Jacqueline!

Goin' on a Hike...Or, A Nature Walk

I haven't hiked for years and years. I used to think I liked hiking, but really I just like to exercise and be in the sun. With hiking you definitely get the exercising part (well, usually) but in the Pacific NW, you get very little sun. Hiking around here means trees, wilderness, wildlife. Let's face it...I just like the sun. I could really forego the nature part and just be in the sun. I think I may really, really love hiking in Arizona. Sun and exercise.
Anyhow we did go hiking with Mike, Julie and Samson on Saturday. It was a beautiful day (well, mostly muddy and grey while we were on our "hike") and was a great idea they had to get out and do something active with the kids. :) It was Lilah's first hike and Samson's (although Samson is almost 2 months old and Lilah is almost 2 years old).
Samson spent most of the hike snuggled next to his daddy in the moby wrap. Hard life. Lilah spent about half of the hike in this great backpack we borrowed from Emily. However, she's a mover and a shaker, and finally we had to turn around and head back, letting her walk part of the way (but it was almost 2 miles in, so not too bad). She had a few falls in the dirt and mud, but I think had a great time. Her favorite part was seeing the horses, dogs and cows on the way there and along the trail.
It was nice to get out and do something active and spend time with Mike and Julie. We just really enjoy their company and we always have a good time together - laughing, joking, giving advice, and praying together. The best part of our nature walk/hike...the 6 of us standing in a circle and Mike praying for all of us at the end.
Thanks Muchlinskis for a great day!

4 Weeks...

from yesterday that we leave for Hawaii. Oh my gosh...I can't wait!

The Muchlinskis FIRST Date Night...Post Samson!

I am honored to say that the Muchlinskis spent their very first date night after Samson's birth with us! I would say it was quite successful. We stayed close to home just in case they had to rush off to save grandma from a screaming baby boy. We went to Purple and really had such a great time. Julie seemed like she was relaxed and calm, and they didn't even talk about Samson the entire time like we did on our first date night out. And I think she only texted her mom once. Impressive.
As always, we so enjoyed their company and had many laughs and good conversation. I decided that for the next date night maybe Lance and I should watch Samson so they can spend a date night alone (although Mike and Lance were already planning their own little "date night" during dinner for tomorrow night - it consisted of Julie and I leaving, anywhere, somewhere, and the two of them playing Madden football on the Xbox...romantic).

Baby Ellie and Crosby

This week Lilah had lots of baby time. We went on Wednesday to meet little Ellie (she's about 2 months old now) and to see her mama, Nicole. She was so pretty, with so much dark hair. It reminded me of Lilah when she was born since she also had a full head of hair....and didn't lose any of it! Nicole looks great and seems to be doing great as well. Lilah thought she was mainly there though to entertain Nicole, and did just that. I am not sure where she got this "being the center of attention" thing...honestly. I was so shy as a child. But Lilah, she likes to dance, sing for you, make funny faces and then giggle, and have conversations with Lilah "language".
On Thursday we got to meet little Crosby (not pictured...darn it). Liz in my PEPS group had him only a week and a half ago, and has Clara who is a few weeks older than Lilah. Lilah mostly liked Crosby's eyes (she likes to put her fingers in baby's eyes) and loved the O'Connors' stairs (her favorite thing at other places since we don't have any). I just liked holding Crosby. He was so sweet, and little, and just layed there, looking at me. And he finally startedt to fall asleep in my arms. I told Liz that holding Crosby made me almost (notice I said ALMOST) makes me want to have another baby. Almost.
Congrats to my friends and their growing families!

Beach? Palm Trees? Huh!?

Some of you may be wondering why my background looks like summertime, sunshine, beachy??? Ummm...because Lance and I are taking a little trip to HAWAII in February!

If you haven't heard the story, here it is in a nutshell. At Lance's "holiday party" (aka: at a bar, with bar food and sans spouses) they had a drawing for a 7 day, 7 night trip to Hawaii (airfare and accomodation included). And....guess who won? My hubby!! And it just so happens to be scheduled (it's a timeshare) right during our anniversay (we're going from Feb 12th-19th, our anniversary is the 17th).

I know, it's unreal and we both can hardly wait. After our 5 day stay with my mom, I feel even more comfortable leaving Lilah with her since she could have cared less then if I were around or not. I just hope my mom doesn't have to be put on bedrest from exhaustion after we get home.

So...I will begin now to rub it in everyone's face by my blog background. Hawaii, watch out....5 weeks until the Wiley's arrival!!

A Smile to Light Up the Room

On December 30th, Lance's grandpa Wiley passed away after 94 great years on this earth. He lived a wonderful, Jesus-centered life and left behind quite a legacy. For the past 3 or so years he has suffered from dementia and lived in a nursing facility. Darlene, Lance's grandma, lived just across the street in a little apartment.
When Forrest was still coming to family functions and before the signs of dementia I remember when I was just starting to come around and meeting all the Wiley family. The thing I will always remember about grandpa Wiley was his huge, bright smile. He would give me a big hug and then just smile from ear to ear at me. At his memorial, so many people spoke of that huge smile that they would remember him by also.

Thankfully he will suffer no more from this disease and went "home" to be with Jesus. I hope he got to see my dad and that they get to see the wonderful legacy that they both have left behind.

Granny's

I think both my mom and Lilah couldn't have had a better time. Lilah loved seeing granny every day, and loved seeing Bonnie and Lexi every day almost as much. Those poor animals desperately wanted their house back, and every day they awoke to hearing their names being called from down the hallway, and then possibly some screeching and dancing with excitement. Lilah's pretty gentle, but she can't stay out of the animals' faces and when Bonnie or Lexi want some peace and quiet and sleep, Lilah can hardly stand to stay away.
Lilah and granny spent a lot of time playing, sitting at her new table and chairs pretending to eat and drink tea, coloring with markers (thank goodness they were washable..oh boy!), and watching Elmo.
It was a good week for all of us and we were so thankful for all my mom's help and hospitality. I think Lilah may have moved in there permanently if I would have let her.

When Lance came to visit one day we took a walk on this very cold but beautiful day down to the Edmonds Starbucks. We sat outside and Lilah talked to all who passed.

Christmas x 4!!!!!!!!!

This year our holidays were very packed and busy. We did indeed have 4 Thanksgivings (although more spread out and not always including Miss Lilah...thankfully) and also 4 Christmas' (in two days, mind you). It's always so wonderful to be with family and to see a lot of my family that I don't see much. It's sad that when we were smaller we got together a lot for all the cousins' birthdays, but as we've gotten older, we have all gone our separate ways and live busy lives. We live mostly all so close, but see each other only a few times a year. We did however vow to keep it a lot more simple next year. It was two days of exhaustion and very little relaxation, which makes it harder to truly enjoy Christmas time. To make matters even more crazy, the day after Christmas we began to move most of our house into our back room to prepare for scraping the remainder of the lovely popcorn ceiling, painting, and new carpet. I am so, so thankful for our remodel and the plush new carpet, but it was pretty nuts for a few days. Lilah and I (see the above post) stayed at my mom's for 5 days while Lance worked at the house. It was very relaxing, but a little sad to not spend those days off with Lance. We were all so thankful for my mom and her letting us stay there, helping with Lilah so much and allowing us to take over her home for that long. I think she really enjoyed it and I KNOW Lilah loved it. However, my mom's kitty (Bonnie) and 12 year old dog (Lexi) pretty much hated the new visitors.

Here are some of our Christmas pictures, minus Christmas with the Buslach's (I took NO pictures) and Christmas at my mom's (I forgot my camera, so have to get pictures still from her).

The pictures of the kids was a Christmas play that Faith made up and directed all the kids (or attempted to), telling the story of Jesus' birth. It was great and so cute with little Lilah involved this year. Nice work cousin Faith!
